Listen to the Mighty Trojans

Here. Live on the internet. I got this site from these other blogs you may find interesting.

Court date-update

We finally received a letter from our attorney with a court date of December 5th. Since we filed this in March it only seems right since it will have been 9 months. No morning sickness, doctor visits or sympathy weight though. Lou's mom has even joked about giving him a baby shower. Even though we all consider ourselves a family already this will make us a household of Harper's!!

Hope everyone is well and hope to see you soon.,

Iraq Assessment

Senator Chuck Hagel gives us an honest assessment of the Iraq situation and what the US needs to do. The Republican leadership in the Senate is not like their counterparts in the House of Representatives.

Fritter Fritter?

AP wuz robbed

Trying something new to break the thick cloud of sickness that has hovered over the Miller household for the past three weeks (it all started with baby C, who's the healthiest of the bunch now), it seemed time to do some composing. Then it's back to my bottle of Cheratussin and flannel sheets.

Ryan Howard seems like a good guy and a nice story, Missouri kid and all. Sure was fun watching him mash moon shots in the HR Derby and know (well, hope) he's clean of artificial enhancements that would shrivel his testicles. In many seasons, his offensive numbers would be good enough for MVP. But not this year.

I imitated Lou and did some research. Howard had 9 more HR and 12 more RBI than Pujols. And that, folks, apparently won him the award. Never mind that Albert scored 15 more runs, stole 7 more bases, batted 18 points higher, and struck out 131(!) fewer times. THESE are the stats that show Albert clearly got shafted:

Howard with RISP: 164 AB, .256 AVG, .518 SLG, 12 HR, 83 RBI, 56 SO

Pujols with RISP: 126 AB, .397 AVG, .802 SLG, 14 HR, 88 RBI, 10 SO

The disparity is stunning. If Albert had had as many ABs with RISP as Howard (just imagine Utley hitting in front of Pujols all season), he clearly would have won the RBI crown. And yet because he still might have been a few homers shy, not playing 81 games in Citizens Bank Bandbox, the myopic BBWAA voters might still have blown it. Chicks, and the media, dig the long ball.

Oh yeah, and there's that Gold Glove thing.

The Truth Starts to Ooze Out

This commentary, as the author says, is twelve years late. The Republican leaders of the House of Representatives over the last twelve years are an unsavory bunch. Over this period, the will and the welfare of the American people have been their least concern.

The American people have given the Democrats an opportunity to take this country in a new direction. I hope they don't fritter away this opportunity amid scandal and hypocrisy as the House Republicans have done for the last twelve years.

O.K. take a breath between the laughter!! Neither of us have posted in a while, sooo much is going on around here right now, but we do read the blog regularly. Lou is going back to school, he started a few weeks ago. We joke about it being MED school (Master in EDucation) He assures me it will take only 18 months (not years this time) He came home tonite after class to tell me that his group divided up responsibilities of the final project for this class, he gets to do the research, which means he gets the joy of doing the academic part of the project (maybe I should remind you to take a breath again!) Of course it is basketball season too so he is in the middle of that and Cody is playing this year and Kimberly is dancing at the home games and I was transferred to a store that needs A LOT of help, lucky Cole is just along for the ride right now. Oh yeah and we haven't yet completed the adoption. We are just waiting for the court date but it has to be held at the juvenile court and unfortunately that could take a while around here. We of course wouldn't have it any other way--at least the chaos is controlled. Hope everyone is doing well, and hope to see you all soon.

The Cards sign Shelly's favorite player for two more seasons!!!! That means no more Juan Pierre nightmares for me!

Speaker Pelosi

Turns out that all those stories about Nancy Pelosi being a "San Francisco Liberal" are mostly made up. Come to think of it, the "San Francisco Liberal" is a fictional demon designed by Newt Gingrich to frighten folks who hate homosexuals.

The Administration is Incompetent

If you heard me say these words they'd probably go in one ear and out the other. But what if Richard Perle and Kenneth Adelman said it? These two men were neocons on the Defense Policy Board. They were both Pentagon advisors who believed deeply in the Iraq war. Adelman pulls no punches in his analysis of the administration.

"I just presumed that what I considered to be the most competent national security team since Truman was indeed going to be competent," Mr Adelman said.

"They turned out to be among the most incompetent teams in the postwar era. Not only did each of them, individually, have enormous flaws, but together they were deadly, dysfunctional."

What he said . . .

I am a bit more leery of the Democrats than Travis, but mostly I agree with this rant.

Anyone Catch This Documentary?

I sure would like to see this if anyone recorded it. We talked about this issue before on here. If the company makes a voting machine, won't show you the code, and won't produce paper confirmation of the ballots, do not trust those machines. It is simple to fix an election with such a device.

If you vote in a place that has a electronic voting machines ask them for paper confirmation. Ask them if they have the source codes for their machines. See what they say. In the future, we will discover that elections have been fixed with these devices.

The Mood In Detroit

Well Redbirds Fans, I have the pleasure of being in Detroit tonight entertaining customers. And, so I walk the cautious line and play the role of gracious winner as you don't want to rub a World Series victory in the face of people you want to buy things from you. But, the mood here is one of very gracious losers. They are obviously disappointed, but happy to have lost to the Cards if they had to lose. And, feel they lost fair and square. They feel more that they lost than that we won (errors, etc), but still give us our respect. Even the security guard at Avis asked if I was a Cards fan when I checked out at the gate and she saw my MO ID.

So, chalk one up for the fans of Detroit being gracious and unbitter 2nd placers.

Gosh it felt to get that out after holding back all night!

Go Birds.
