Emergency Appendectomy for Mrs. Seamhead

I just wanted to let everyone know that Shelly had an emergency appendectomy Wednesday evening. She made it through the surgery ok, but Roger says she won't be released from the hospital until Saturday. Thus, she and the girls will have to forgo their annual Christmas pilgrimage to Wisconsin.

Please everyone keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

I hear from seamhead that she is doing well. Apparently her appendix had perforated thus the extended stay. The surgeon went to medical school and did his residency at Mizzou, oddly enough.

JP, I found out she was having this done at about 3:15. Then I clocked out and ran down to my brother's office to wait for her to get here to the hospital. (lucky for us Dr. Aunt Sarah told Shelly to go to the clinic. She also picked her up at the clinic and drove her to the hospital.) So don't feel out of the loop.

The whole definition of emergency is running around with your hair on fire until he situation is in hand without bothering to stop and email everyone. :)

So what did YOU do since you don't have any hair? Speedy Recovery!

Since I don't have any hair, I'm much calmer than everyone else. I know the surgery was hard on Shelly. At least she wasn't forced to watch Quin's latest folly during it. I'm still recovering from that.

You bet. My Candystriper will be top notch.

We had the girls and their cousins in to visit Shelly awhile ago. That seemed to be some good medicine.

The tough deal is that she won't be able to lift the kids up for six weeks. Kinda tough to explain that to a two year old.

I wonder if Boz has started packing on yet during the pregnancy. What do you say Boz? Building a little Santa gut? I'm down 28lbs since you guys saw me last. Shooting for another 10-20lbs.

Howdy, now we'll be able to tell you from Lou and Seamhead. :) Kudos.

I bet Seamhead's hair burned up after some emergency in high school. Didn't he go from afro to bald in about 6 months?

I don't think Boz could pack on 25 pounds if he tried. What's the secret Boz? Superior genetics?

Okay jagua piru, since everyone else is completely ignoring you I will comment on the movie. Perhaps no one else has had a chance to see it yet.

It was awesome in my opinion. I enjoyed every minute of it. Parke stood up at the end of the movie and said it was the best movie he had EVER seen. The boys were pretty excited about it for hours afterwards. Thumbs up for me.

I didn't think about it until now but I can definitely see the Shelly connection. Not so much the way she looked Wednesday but almost every other day there are definite similarities. I have to give her credit though.....even as she was lying in her pre-op bed she kept her since of humor and was making us laugh. I was impressed.

A little bit of a setback for Shelly this morning. Looks like she's not getting out of the hospital tonight.

Can you please elaborate for her worried big sister? What a bummer for Christmas!

She threw up a couple times this morning. However, I went down about 11 am this morning, and she was feeling better. I think they are going to change her antibiotic. She also ordered a vanilla shake. That's a good sign.

Whew- thanks for the update! We'll miss seeing you this weekend. I was really looking forward to getting together. We'll plan something when she feels better. Even though things are not going as planned, I hope your holidays end up to be wonderful. You have a lot to celebrate! We love you up here in WI!

I think the girl from the Narnia movie looks like Dave's youngest girl, but I can see Shelly as a wee lass in her manerisims now that you mention it.

Shelly's still in the hospital (12/24). It doesn't look like she'll be home tomorrow either. She's a little sad. We're going to take a few presents over there, but it won't be the same for her.

We're hoping she starts feeling better soon.

I hear from the family grapevine that Shelly will be returning home tomorrow, i.e. Monday, Dec. 26, and that her parents will be abandoning the frozen tundra to spend some quality time with their granddaughters to ease the transition.

I'm sorry the hospital stay was extended, but I'm glad to hear the good news. Hang in there, big bro!

P.S. I thought Seamhead's hair caught on fire during one his stunt rides in our parents' old Ford Escort? If he would have had a racecar driver's protective suit and helmet, he'd still have hair today. That's what I heard, anyway.
