Yesterday Willa said to her Momma, "My new bus driver is mean, but I tried." Her curiosity piqued, Shelly asked, "You tried what?" Willa said, "I told him Happy Valentine's Day." "What did he say?" Shelly prodded. "He smiled and said thank you."
She's not the same kid she was back in August when we first shuffled her off to kindergarten. She would hardly speak to anyone. Now, she's engaging mean bus drivers with good wishes.
They grow up right in front of you, and you hardly realize it.
